  • What is the United Italian Societies?
The UIS is a company limited by guarantee that aims at uniting all the Italian societies in the UK (and the world) under one roof, to maximise both the potential and the opportunities of Italian students abroad. This company was founded by 8 prestigious Italian societies: Oxford University, UCL, LSE, King's College, Imperial College, Westminster University, City University and Brunel University. Now, they all work together to build up this project.
  • What are the UIS' objectives?
The UIS has three main purposes: 1) Harmonise collaborations between different Italian Societies by hosting social and academic events together. The UIS aims at creating a resourceful and friendly network among Italian students abroad. 2) Offer Mentoring and Scholarships programmes to Italian students abroad. The Mentoring programme has the objective of building a relationship between mentors and students by collabing with associations, firms and professionals in various sectors. The Scholarship programme tries to help those Italian students who cannot afford an education in the UK, especially after Brexit. 3) Guarantee direct contact with Institutions in the UK such as Italian Embassy, Italian Consulate and the Italian Chamber of Commerce in the UK. This means we can represent Italian student needs and be available for any support we can provide to institutions.
  • What is the Presidents' Committee?
The Presidents' Committee is the heart and soul of the United Italian Societies. It is a committee composed entirely by all the Presidents of the Italian Societies that adhered to the UIS' project. The Presidents' Committee will meet at least twice a year to discuss the election of the executive and vote for which activities and strategies to implement.
  • What is the Advisory Board?
The Advisory Board is an essential part of the UIS as it guarantees to add experience to the young talents in the UIS. Members of the Advisory Board will be able to help the UIS grow with their insights and ideas.
  • What is the UIS' Executive team?
The Executive team is the motor of the UIS. It makes sure it stays active and pursues all the objectives described above. The Executive team is composed by 5 autonomous bodies: - Marketing officers: They engage in social media management, interactions with media and newspapers, and supervise the functioning of our website. - Social Events officers: They organise social events with fellow officers across different universities with full engagement and resources from all the partner Italian Societies. - Mentoring Programme officers: They develop a mentoring scheme with strategic and management skills. They also are in direct contact with partner firms and associations to find mentors. - Scholarships Programme officers: They use strategic and management skills to organise Scholarship schemes. They also work directly with partner firms and their management. - Relations officers: They will be in direct contact with institutions such as Italian Embassy, Italian Consulate and Chamber of Commerce to represent the UIS.
